Workshop-style practice
Slower pace with detailed instruction, props, and adjustments
Focus on fitting the body structurally for stability
New variations reveal movement habits and offer fresh insight
Structure over muscles
Emphasis on bone alignment and joint angles, not muscle effort
Stability comes from skeletal positioning and directional actions
Supports energy flow and reduces risk of overuse or injury
Focus on organ health
Creates space in the body to optimize organ function
Draws on Eastern concepts of organ relationships and vitality
Cross-referenced alignment
Align body parts in relationship to each other (e.g., shoulder to opposite hip)
Balances space for organs and builds structural stability
Geometry-based positioning
Uses stable angles (90°, 60°, 45°) to organize the body
Example: Downward Dog built around 60° joint angles
Taoist principles
Integrates yin–yang balance
Emphasizes natural patterns and repetition to change habits
Shift from autopilot to awareness
Moves students from unconscious habits (“first nature”) to functional patterns (“second nature”)
Encourages conscious movement and transformation, not comfort or familiarity

Late summer in Chinese Medicine is considered a distinct season between summer and autumn, the fifth in its cycle associated with the earth element, stomach and spleen.
This is when summer with its extreme Yang energy, intense brightness and heat, yields and softens to the beginning of autumn, when the cooler Yin energy start to creep in.
It's a time for nourishing, grounding and transformation.
Taoist philosophy teaches us to align with the energy of each season through lifestyle, diet and spiritual practices.
This half day retreat offers you the opportunity to pause, breathe, be in nature whilst nurtured with yoga, breath work and sound therapy. The goal of this season is to return to your central core to re-generate enabling a balanced transition into the next season.
The venue: Inner Bloom is a dome nestled in the foot of the downs where you can hear sheep, birds and the wind whispering through the trees. It's a hidden gem.
